Astrology and 'Reaction' (2)

     Well. I would rather make a small amendment to this title-I would call it re-action! When someone reacts, he is actually ‘acting’ again. He has put the other person’s action inside his body chemistry and his ‘biology’ cooks up a dish which goes out and presents itself as ‘reaction’. 

     Incidentally, the Bhagavadgitha preaches Karma, Akarma and Vikarma. Action, Inaction and composite action-all are splendid ways of reacting! What transforms them into splendour is one golden principle whereby one has to see ‘action’ in all the three forms! There is one kind of reaction which might appeal to you more than anything else with which I feel like engaging you at the moment. 

     Let me take you to the year 1982/83 when a test match was being played between India and the West Indies at Bridge Town. It was a match which the West Indies had won rather convincingly but something very interesting had happened. Mohinder Amarnath, the hero of the 1983 world cup had scored 91 out of India’s total of 209 in the first innings after which the West Indies had scored 486. Amarnath was playing well again in the second innings Malcolm Marshall, who was at his peak, swirled a nasty one which struck Amarnath who lost a couple of teeth. There was blood on his shirt… Amarnath returned to the dressing room, washed the shirt all by himself and returned to the crease wearing the same shirt! What followed was thrilling. There was a flurry of hooks and pulls-a counter attack which raised many an eye-brow those days. The 80 runs hammered by Amarnath stand testimony to the grit of the great Indian allrounder even today. Though the match was lost, Amarnath was named ‘player of the match’!

      Was this a reaction? If yes? To what? His own failure to fend off the delivery from Malcolm Marshall, or a counter aggression? 

     A seasoned Astrologer and observer of human impulse would mark something else in the entire episode-Amarnath washing the shirt all by himself within that short time, donning the same shirt and returning for presenting the ‘re-action’! We would be discussing these aspects from Astrology on a plain white screen after a couple of pages from now…
