About ‘Action’ and Astrology (4)

‘The strongest oak was once a trembling sapling in the wind-growth begins with fear. Strength is not born from comfort. It’s forged in challenge.’

The three examples from real life stand in three dimensions of ‘action’.  Let us dive deeper…

Here is one concept which brings us into the vicinity of how planets are perceived while studying ‘action’-Action is determined to a large extent on how reality is perceived by the individual. But then, reality is reality. The second premise about this is the variation in perceiving reality. If we draw from this, if agreed upon that there has been a variation, it is a logical deduction that variation is ‘influenced’.

There are certain conditions which create themselves. The question many ask is whether the subject is about influencing or controlling. A strong reply to this question was from an elderly person during a casual discussion-real control is something which  does not present itself prominently. It is continued influence which transforms itself quietly into control. This is food for thought.

The fundamental capacity for awareness sprouts from the ascendant or ‘lagna’ in a horoscope. Self-expression takes off from this standpoint of fundamental awareness. The ascendant determines the awareness of consciousness itself. Nevertheless, it is the position of Sun in a horoscope which bridges this awareness and final self-expression. Here therefore is the variation-between where the ascendant is and where Sun is positioned! While studying the position of the Sun, the aspects made to the Sun and the house he is positioned in determine several features of creative self-expression. This is where harmony or disharmony in this ‘activity’ take their shape. It must be remembered that while studying this, the relationship of Sun in the horoscope with the fifth house and its lord needs a separate study (Sun owns the natural fifth house Leo or ‘Simham’). If this model is rendered weak, creative self-expression takes a back seat and so does ‘action’. If Sun is in a quadrant or ‘Kendra’ including the Lagna, there is ‘timely’ power whereby the individual is lively and present in the present with action. In simple terms, he is quite dynamic to the occasion. If it is otherwise, where the Sun is afflicted and there are oppositions to the Sun in the horoscope, the first impediment is a confrontation with the individual’s ego itself. This situation creates an atmosphere for discord, obstacles and committing mistakes-some involuntary but most of them conscious and self-inflicting blunders!

Apparently, this is where the variation in viewing reality gets influenced which is followed by actions which are either not understood by others or entirely misunderstood. What is more interesting and intriguing at the same time is that these patterns of behaviour hibernate inside an individual until the age of 29 years and erupt almost like a volcano just at that point of time which surprise or even shock one and all-parents and most often the married partner since that is precisely the time when someone would have got married perhaps two or three years ago! The phenomenon is therefore on the dissecting table for an analysis when we think about discord. ‘Action’ therefore needs to be studied fundamentally on this premise and first and foremost in that order.

The question which might have erupted in most people’s minds would be, in that case, what would have influenced the individual’s mind until the age of 29 years? Well. It’s the Moon! We shall turn to him in the next pages…
